Good news for the UK manufacturing market, the government will invest £246m in a number of Catapult Centre-like organisations to promote the development of electric car batteries in the UK. Currently, the top countries producing these batteries are Japan, South Korea and China, meaning the UK are merely following the existing technology- and not defining it. The government is hoping they can shift this current trend and label the UK leaders in groundbreaking innovation.
